Michael Mapes and Jenny Wassenaar proudly represented Trivium at Climate Week in New York. This annual event, held in partnership with the United Nations General Assembly, is coordinated with the United Nations and the City of New York.

Michael Mapes reflects on Climate Week

Michael Mapes shared his insights: “There were many takeaways from Climate Week, but despite the challenges ahead, I left feeling hopeful. Businesses and governments are collaborating, and their efforts are making a difference. Conversations with other business leaders and political figures reaffirmed my conviction from five years ago when we founded Trivium Packaging. As a metal packaging company, we offer a sustainable material that helps brands achieve their sustainability goals. Our shared purpose reflects the ambitions of our customers, the communities we serve, and our own families. While we still have a long way to go to combat climate change, being part of a business that prioritizes doing the right thing is crucial.”

Leading the conversation on sustainable packaging

Jenny Wassenaar participated in a panel discussion during the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit, which was attended by around 1,000 business leaders, UN officials, government leaders, SDG stakeholders, and civil society professionals from around the world.

During a joint session at the UNGC Leaders Summit, Jenny Wassenaar conducted a “Waste Game” to educate participants about the real recycling rates of different packaging materials. This interactive approach made the concepts of circularity and recycling both visual and understandable, emphasising the need for collective efforts to improve global recycling rates.
